Summary Of Slitting Modes Of Slitter

1. Round knife slitting (also known as rotary knife slitting)

Round knife cutting can be divided into tangent cutting and non-tangent cutting.

Tangent cutting is to cut material from the tangent direction of the upper and lower disc cutters. This kind of cutting is more convenient. The upper disc cutter and the lower disc cutter can adjust position directly according to the cutting width requirements. The disadvantage of this method is that the material drifts easily at the cutting point, so the accuracy is not high and it is not generally used now.

Non-tangential cutting is that the material and the lower disc cutter have a certain wrap angle. The lower disc cutter falls down and cuts the material. This kind of cutting method can make the material not easy to drift and the cutting accuracy is high. But adjusting cutter is not very convenient. When installing disc cutter, the whole shaft must be removed. Round knife cutting is suitable for cutting thick composite film and paper.

2. Extrusion Cutting

Extrusion slitting is not common in domestic slitting machines. It is mainly composed of a pneumatic knife which synchronizes with the material speed and has a certain wrap angle with the material bottom roll and is easy to adjust. This cutting method can cut not only thin plastic film, but also thick paper and non-woven fabric. It is a more convenient way of segmentation. It is a development direction of slitting mode of slitter.

3. Flat Cutting

Just like a razor, one-sided blade or two-sided blade is fixed on a fixed tool holder, and the knife is dropped during the material operation so that the knife cuts the material longitudinally to achieve the purpose of cutting.

There are two ways of razor cutting: slot cutting and hanging cutting.

Cutting groove is when the material runs in the groove roll, the cutter falls into the groove of the groove roll, and the material is cut longitudinally. At this time, the material has a certain wrap angle in the groove roll and is not easy to drift. When slitting and casting PP film or film with narrow edge material, this slitting method is often used to improve the slitting efficiency. But for suspension slicing, its disadvantage is that it is inconvenient to knife.
